Default is this a fair amount to put through books?

last weekend i bought myself a nintendo wii, wii fit and lots of games from ebay for £180. i hadnt particularly planned for the children to play it as i dont have after schoolers and didnt think the pre schoolers would manage it.

    i was wrong! lol.

my 4 year old usually watches tv while waiting for mum but asked today what the 'white box' was. i put on mario kart for him gave him a streering wheel and he was off! came last in every race but managed to stay on the road most of the time. he absolutley loved it.

so my thinking is, as he is going to use it would it be fair to put half the price (£90) through my books?

technically I think that you're only allowed to put things that you buy solely for the business through the books.....

Yes I was told on a tax and national expenses workshop that only items solely purchased and used for childmding could be claimed.

But then a cm told me recently that she claims for her car to be serviced as she has to se it for minding as well as personal use so who knows?

I have just bought a computer that will be used by the mindees and my own children (but not me) and I put it through my books at 50% of the cost, as long as you can justify it then I think it is fine.

I got one for my daughter, she wanted to keep fit and didn't want to go the gym. But when my mindee's saw her on it, they wanted a go and loved it. so now they use it more than my daughter. I ended up buying more games for them. so yes I would put 50% if not all of it through your books.

Yes I would definately, anything that the childminding children regularly use, as its getting double the use than if just your children were using it and double the wear and tear! just work out a realistic percentage.

    YES

I'd claim 50% of the cost,

and if you buy games for mindees that you wouldnt normally buy for your own claim the full ammount
