    Default tax return commencing...?

    Hi,

I'm trying to get on top of my (very first) tax return. I've been registered since January 2017 and took on the first child in February (27th).
For the current tax return, do I have to list income and expenses from March 2016 (which is when I started the registration process) until April 5th 2017? Or beyond that?
I'd be grateful if anyone knew...

The last tax year started on 6 April 2016 and ended on 5 April 2017 (online tax return deadline is Midnight 31 January 2018). So you only list income/expenses within that time period. When you were registered by Ofsted is not relevant to HMRC, rather it is to do with your income and expenditure.
There are lots of self-help guides online, see Pacey website too.
