meals allowable expenses
Hi all,
Getting my head around the whole child minding stuff now its been a few weeks, but having a bit of an expenses confusion.
I didn't set up as a business as such, more planning too keep mindee numbers low and keep as "small family" as I can so we don't have a shop specifically for mindee food but most of ours have a number of meals with us.
How do others in This situation work our how much to put on expenses? My working out recipe costs is beginning to irritate me.
Cheers
J

I just put through £1.50 per lunch or tea and 50p per snack - I sometimes think my estimate is a little high for the portion size but think it helps towards all the other things that I completely forget to charge for.
I think it's probably easier when people batch cook a meal which is solely for the mindees to eat and they can follow the same recipe and calculations each time, but I'm like you in that I cook for my family and make sure I make enough for the mindees - they eat what we eat (but a day after) - they have eaten for lunch today thai green chicken & veg (onions, peppers, green beans & baby sweetcorn) with noodles. I'm not going to calculate and divide into adult and child sized portions to work out an exact cost - the chicken breast was about £4, baby corn & beans £2, coconut milk over £1.50, noodles about £1 - I think it cost about £9 and fed 2 adults and 3 mindees - so I will put through my accounts 3 x £1.50 = £4.50
