I'm considering extending my home as I currently use my living room as my minding area
Would I be able to put this on my expenses if not all but part of it?

I would advise you to speak to an Accountant about it. You will not be able to claim the building of it as an expense as it is a material part of your home and will remain so when you sell it or stop childminding.

You can however claim the decorating and furnishing of it as a % of use for childminding so if you use it as a spare bedroom like we do or your children use it in the evenings or at the weekends that % of the decorating and furnishing can not be claimed.
