Thank you this has been a life saver. The NCMA accounts book is soooo long winded and time consuming. I have just transferred all my accounts over and it took next to no time. Will it be easy to change details for next years' accounts?

    Thanks again x

    Hi,

Thanks for your message. I will be updating this spreadsheet with 2013-14 dates and will post it to this thread for people to download. I promise I'll do it before the new tax year!

    Thanks!

Wow, thanks again. I wasn't fishing for this, just wondering if there was an easy way to change it all. But if you're happy to do this and share that's amazing.

    Hi there,

I am starting childminding in April and have been looking for a good way of keeping my accounts, and your spreadsheet is brilliant - thanks so much for sharing!

I'm a little confused about the amount claimed for heating etc. On your spreadsheet, you have worked out the average weekly hours, which is 14.18.
The % I have seen on HMRC website say 10 hours a week is 2% council tax and water, 8% heating and lighting; 15 hours a week is 4% council tax and water, 12% heating and lighting. (Are these correct?)
I'm not sure how you have then used this to calculate your expenses - it's probably very simple but I just can't seem to make sense of it!!

    Hi Laura,

Thanks for the message. I got the figures from the NCMA Accounts book and they seem to agree with HMRC. They only talk about specific hours e.g. average 20hr week and average 40hr week so if you have an average of 34 hours then it needs to be proportioned. The spreadsheet does this for you, basically proportions the HMRC allowance accordingly. I've done this little graph that might help explain.

    Thanks,

    Martin

Wow, that looks amazing! It must have taken you hours to set that up! I will attempt to fill it in for the coming Tax year, any problems will definitely be down to me and not your spreadsheet! Don't suppose that you offer tutorials do you?
    Thanks very much for sharing!

Thank you very much for the updated spread sheet, I am using your 2012/2013 and think it is wonderful, I'm so far behind with my accounts it is taking me forever to catch up but it is so much easier than writing in the NCMA ones that I know it will be done soon. and will try to start the 2013/2014 one today and work two side by side so I don't fall behind again. Its a weight off my mind as I was getting panicked Thanks again for sharing.
