holiday dates confusion!

If you had a child start in August and you take 2 weeks holiday per year would you count the year as Aug 2011-Aug 2012? Parent has used up there free holiday days for the year and i didn't take any yet. Have other parents too so just starting again jan-dec is easier but i would have missed out on any holiday last year (only aug-jan though so im not too bothered) and parents gain more free days. What do you do?

it probably would be easier to do it jan - dec but could you not do it proportionally to the time acrued when you adjust it originally?

So they have 1 year (jan - dec) plus the aug - dec from last year. so perhaps if you allow them a generous 1 week for the time aug - dec (as it is almost 6 months) and then another 2 weeks jan - dec that is 3 weeks. If they have used 2 weeks already they have another week for this year.

As for yourself you could calculate a similar proportion for yourself - aug - dec plus jan - dec leaves you still 3 weeks to use.
