Just a quick question (am on hols at the moment lol) have had an enquiry but 1 night a week they need at 10.30pm finish, does this count as overnight care? Or do I just charge an enhanced rate until this time after my normal day time hours.

I know some won't do this, but I don't mind as I know hoe hard it was myself finding childcare when I had no family to help.

I would personally charge an enhanced rate from the time I 'normally' closed at the end of the day.

I would charge enhanced rate, also put in some conditions such as after set time child intergrates with normal family routine no eyfs, you really don't wont to be tiding away paint, glue ,lego etc at 10.30.
I looked after a lo from 4 till 10 at one time after 7 ,she was allowed to read or have a couple of dolls out sometimes colouring .Mum was happy with this and lo stayed with me for 3 years only leaving as mum changed hours to fit in with school

could you do it as a babysitting arrangement instead - if your partner is home, take LO home and put them to bed. If not def. charge at least £1/£2 more per hour hon :)

i was on the understanding that anything worked after 10pm and before 6am was classed as over night care. so yes you would need over night care for that 30 mins :o

Would it be easier to keep the child overnight? seems late to be going home at 10.30pm. just a thought.

Rang Ofsted about this last week as I have one starting with me in the evening.

They informed that overnight care starts at 10pm til 6am. If the care times are in the majority of those hours then you would need to register for overnight care otherwise you are fine. So for example mine is 7pm til 10.30pm so no need for overnight care, does that make sense

If I did it I would be charging double time after my normal finish time

Me too ... none of this extra £1 or £2 business! Teenage babysitters earn much more than we do per hour.

Thankyou ladies, sorry I did not reply sooner, lady has gone elsewhere, but have another enquiry, for 2 over 8's night per week. my usual daily rate is £28, trying to figure out an affordable over night rate in my area. the usual daily rate is £25, so i was thinking £50 over night. Would you give a discout for sibling
