links for risky play needed please!

One of my parents needs some info to back her up in explaining to LO's Dad (separated) that taking risks and climbing high is good for LO's development,both physically and in learning to manage risks - please does anyone have any good links for web oages or articles that I could send her?

the government were putting out posters on this too (loads in our local sports centres etc).

i reckon if you google on google scholar something will come up.

I would reassure Dad that if little one never learns their limitations they will not learn how to keep themselves safe. Also there is lots of evidence on the effects of hangign, swinging climbing on supporting left:right brain development which will help intellectual development too :thumbsup: sorry no names off the top of my head though

Thanks guys - I know all the research but Dad won't take someone's word - her has to read about it from somewhere official before he will accept it hence my request as I can't rememeber the authors of the stuff I read about for my course! thanks for the help, I will follow them up and I'm sure that there is something useful there!

Jennie Lindon writes lots about this subject. Her book 'Too safe for their own good' is great. I also really like Richard Louv and his 'Last child in the woods' book and his theories on Nature Deficit Disorder. They are both obviously books rather than articles but I am sure there will be articles which give an overview from each of them:thumbsup:
