Hi. We have just redecorated in the lounge and put down laminate flooring but I would like a rug down esp when it gets colder and for the none walkers. Has anyone else got one and if so what did you use to stop it moving/folding up and are ofsted ok with them?

I may be wrong but i'm sure you can buy some non-slip thing to go under it. I cant remember what its called but i'm sure somebody will be along to help you soon x

I have a huge rug in my lounge o the laminate flooring. My rug already has a non slip backing but I know you can buy some non slip stuff to go under a rug if needed.

OFSTED never mentioned my rug. My lounge is a walk through to the dining room and kitchen and is continually walked on. My rug however is quite thin so doesn't pose a trip hazzard. I guess if it were thicker OFSTED might say it's not safe.

Mine is like rubber and it does not mark my floor and the rug stays in place

My rug is rubber backed. Said it was for laminate floors and I've had no problems with it.

Oh I used sticky back tape to start with and the rug started to slip and move it took us ages to get the tape off the floor so in the end I went for the rubber mat under neath the rug

It is very thin so you can not tell it is even there and the rug does not move

So long as it won't slip when the children walk on it you should be OK

I also know that Ofsted like to know that the rug can not move - because sometimes a foot can be caught underneath even if you dont realise this or even if its not happened before
So a child could trip

Best to be safe than sorry I think

We bought some non-slip stuff for our back door kitchen mat from Woolworths, it wasn't expensive and does the job!
