Trying to word a letter

Morning all

Im trying to write a letter to a set of parents because their son is seeing a specialist soon about suspected Asbergers.
I have been making notes and observations as I suspected it but school have picked it up before I had to say anything to Mum.

Im finding it hard to word it and state the facts about him as without being negative. Has anyone else been in this situation? I feel Mum and Dad dont want a list of things Ive noticed about their son if its all things he struggles with.
I think a list of my observations may come in useful for the parents as the school may not have picked up on his play in the playground as much as I have when its more 1-1 here

Rather than a letter why not offer his lj to mum to share with school or do a summative assessment so you include the positives too.

Just to add though if you can maybe copy your obs as well so they can take them.

I would also get the parents to note the behaviours they have noticed. I had them all bullet pointed and went to the GP, got my referral and saw specialist, took my bullets points there as well to find GP had also faxed it over.

Thanks...hes 5 and in Yr one and only comes in sch hols so no LJ. Id just jotted some notes down on a scrap paper but now Im typing them up

If possible can you turn some of the negatives into his positives, but still saying the same place. So instead of saying he finds it hard to change activities start with 'he is able to spend long time on xxxx activities showing sustained concentration', but is reluctant to leave/change them.
One I used to use when writing reports for P.E. was: X throws with enthusiasm, but catches with less interest!

Ive written it out and it sounds quite good so Im pleased with it. Ive started off with some good points and then things he struggles with.
Hopefully they can use it when he goes for his assesment and although the school may have picked up on his educational difficulties i hope mine will show the social aspects of it.
And because his behaviour may differ from being at home when its just him and his sister to when hes here with up to 7 other children :D
