When to apply for a variation?

Back in Feb, my full timer went down to 1 day a week.

Before advertising the space I checked with all my parents that they were happy with their days/hours. Everyone was, so I advertised the days I had available.

Managed to fill all 4 days with 1 child who is starting mid April. Contracts all signed, deposit received etc.

But now one of my parents wants to swap days and for 1 day a week this will mean 4 under 5's.

I want to try for a variation but my question is can I do it now or should I wait for the new little one to start in April??

Im in the same situation if the mum signs the contract tomorrow, so hope someone comes along to tell us the answer :)

I would apply now. These things can take a while to process.

I'm in Scotland and the Care Inspectorate says to give 3 months notice for a variation.
