How do I fill 50 minutes between pick ups?

I am collecting a child from school at 3.10 today and then my own children at 4pm from the same school (as they go to afterschool activities). I live too far away from school to go home and come back and there isn't much around school, in the middle of a housing estate.

Got any ideas?

How about taking a camera on a walk around the area?

Pick a topic i.e road signs or wildlife, insects, flowers,trees and try to get pictures of all you can find...that will soon eat up half an hour :D

can you play games in the playground? i used to take a football/beanbags etc with us when we were waiting for a club to finish?

i took books, a snack and for an older child, pencils and paper and she used to draw all the trees etc.

when it was raining we used to listen to an audiobook in the car. or, if i was waiting at the junior school, they would let us read books in the library.

Thanks ladies all great ideas. What we actually ended up doing was sat in the car and had a go on the laptop, lots of fun with the drawing game.
