Evening All!

Can anyone tell me is the minimum age of childminding 16 or 18? I cannot remember for the life of me and I am trying to write an assignment with equal opps in it and need to justify exclusion because of age.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer, I wasn't actually aware that there was a minimum wage at all - shows how much I know but then I don't exactly have to worry about that!!!

I just googled it and found this, hope it helps :)

The minimum age is 18, although most childminders are older. Many have their own children at home.

The minimum age is 18. We can't hand over a child (ie at collection) to anyone under 16...though I have it in my paperwork that I won't hand over to anyone under 18.:)

LOL...nope won't take on a LO if parent is under 18 unless a grandparent etc signs contract as well...in which case ...of course!:D

If the mindees parents are 16 - the child is their responsibility.

We have just had this discussion as part of our network & the answer that we were given that as long as the child is 16 or above then we don't need grandparents in addition to the parent.

It was my understanding that you need someone over 18 to sign the contract because you can't take someone under 18 to court for non-payment?

I thought that also Susi

That's what I thought, too. A teen parent is responsible for child but needs a co-signer for legal documents.
