Seems only fair. We are rural and I use the car almost totally for my mindees.
Anyone know the percentage I can put thru the books?

There are a number of ways to claim for car expenses, two of them being

The 45p a mile route takes into account wear and tear and fuel costs so I don't think you can claim anything on top as the W&T covers that

The other way is to make a note of the mileage on every trip, stating whether it is work related or personal use. At the end of the tax year, you work out the percentage using the mileage at the start of the tax year, the end of the tax year and the amount used for personal and business use.
You can then only claim the business % use part of costs, including fuel.

You can't use fuel at 45p, and then mileage for everything else, it's one or the other.

There are other ways - business leasing for instance, but the above are the most generally used

Mr Anchovy or Chatterbox Childcare in the book keeping section are very helpful with the costs side of things

Also if you start with 45p a mile route then you can't switch to milage claims until you replace car.
