Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good wooden or plastic playhouse? Which one is best, wooden or plastic. I had a plastic one when I first started minding but it soon got broken. It was £60ish so I probably need to go for something more expensive so it lasts a bit longer.
Ive seen a nice one on ebay but it has a ladder and I dont think it will be suitable if I have to leave the children for a second or two, or if im helping one on a bike another may fall off the ladder

I just ordered a wooden one from here: http://www.birdwoodplayhouses.co.uk/Houses.html

Can't speak to the quality yet, as I've not got it but I thought they were reasonably priced and they are doing some custom features for me so that it will fit really well in the space I have and will be tall enough for my kids for a couple of years (I have TALL kids). Plus he's painting it for me, so will save me a ton of work ;)

I was going to get plastic, but having had a look on ebay they all look really faded after a couple of years. I figured the wooden one will weather, but I can always re-paint it to get it looking new again. I want one that will last for a long time.

I have a Little Tykes plastic one that is years old - it is faded but the kids still love it.
It was passed onto me when my kids where smaller from my next door neighbour whose other neighbour had passed it on to her! It must be about 16 years old now - I think they were made to last years ago as the plastic seems a lot sturdier than the playhouses today.

Many thanks everyone :D I like them all....big decisions to be made now

My house, water play table and sand table all perished over the 4yrs ive been minding due to me buying cheap stuff when i first started minding.
So ive just bought this, little tikes so hopefully a bit stronger

We replaced our plastic playhouse with a wooden one. fits in perfectly with the rest of our garden and is much bigger and water tight. over the winter months it has come in very useful for storage especially over christms when we put the pushchairs in there.

Please post your thoughts on this when you get it. I've just bookmarked the page.

I had plastic before but am trying to go for mostly natural materials inside and out.
