Having fun tomorrow baking a gruffalo cake I found on TES.

We are going to make and bake a Gruffalo Cake!
You will need to measure using scales and grams to make sure your Gruffalo cake is good enough to eat.
Are you ready?
You will need:
200g butter
200g caster sugar
6 eggs
200g self raising flour
2teaspoons of baking powder

To decorate your cake, you will need:
8 tablespoons of icing sugar
White sweets
Cocoa powder
Brown Liquorice
Black icing pens
Dried apricots
500g margarine

Turn the page for your instructions……….

1. Wash your hands carefully
2. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius
3. Cream the butter and sugar together, until pale and fluffy
4. Beat the eggs into the mixture and fold in the flour and baking powder
5. Spoon the mixture into a muffin case and put on the bun tray
6. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown
7. Place on a cooling rack
8. Use what is left to make his ears

When your cake is cool you can decorate him
1. Mix the icing sugar, cocoa powder and a few drops of water to make a brown butter paste
2. Fix the ears to the Gruffalo using the icing , then cover the cake with the paste
3. Leave the paste to harden a little, then draw the eyes, mouth and whiskers
4. Add the liquorice tongue and add sweets to make his teeth and horns
5. Add a smartie for his poisonous wart

Well done! You have made a brilliant Gruffalo Cake, which is good enough to eat!
Make sure you take a picture before you eat it – Enjoy!
