Newbie! *waves hello*

]Hello everyone!!

I have decided to become a childminder. I have already completed the briefing session & the ICP course starts next Tuesday, which I believe will be 7 weeks long.

I have started completing Part 1 of my application & I have a few questions...

1. There is a fire checklist form, which states you must have a fire blanket in the kitchen. Now I am aware that the NCMA pack contains one, so I was planning on using that, so do I need to buy one in order to send off the forms or do I just tick that I have one & make sure I have put the NCMA one up before my home is inspected?!

2. Do you send pt1 off first then pt 2 seperately or must you send all documents off together??

Sorry, these must be so obvious but there is so much paper work & it os all quite confusing!! :blush:

Hi Sparky and welcome.

The fire blnaket you get in your ncma pack is fine and you just expalin at your pre reg you will have it before you start minding.

I sent all my forms off together at the same time, dont know about the others on here.

Send both parts off together. As for the fire Blanket - don't worry about having it at your pre-reg inspection as ofsted will understand that you are waiting for one from NCMA.
I didn't have one on my pre-reg inspection. My pack came a few weeks before I got my certificate. As long as you have one before you start minding is all they worry about.

Hello Sparky Welcome to the forum:)

The CSSIW does things differently from OFSTED in England. You need to send off both parts together but you cannot send them off until after you have your ICP certificate. After the ICP course the NCMA will give you some mentoring sessions to explain how the CSSIW like you to have your policies and how to fill out part 2 of the application form. I would recommend you go on these. I was registered in England but the CSSIW want you to submit all your policies in the order they want with your application forms.
