Welcome
(another crazy person wanting to be a childminder) :D

I started off with a cot upstairs in the spare room with a monitor but over time have got into a routine of using the buggy as we are always out and about (I dont have a car for work)
So I have a 3yr old who is capable of sleeping on the sofa with a sheet and pillow and the younger ones are in the buggy.
Some sleep, some dont..I dont have a set time for sleeping just as and when they need it which is tiring as some days I dont get a break if they are slepping at different times.
Sleep times vary for the ages I have, but once you get to know the children its easy to get into a routine
:D

I'm not registered for upstairs but am lucky enough to have a huge living room, so I put up a travel cot at one end and have mini mattresses for the bigger children. In the past most of mine have had an afternoon sleep so I bed them all down after lunch for as long as they need (or until it's the school run). Those that need an am sleep too either go in the cot or buggy depending on what we are doing that day.

I have one LO that won't sleep anywhere but a travel cot (well he'll sleep in a buggy if he's very very tired!) so the cot is set up in my son's bedroom when this LO is here.

Other LO's I have are more than happy to sleep in a buggy here, either in the house or if we're out and about. I do have one LO who's Mum said he would only sleep in a cot but he refused the cot here and has got himself into the routine of sleeping in a buggy here which works better for me anyway

I am registered to mind only in my bedroom upstairs - so I put one travel cot in there for one lo, then another in the front room for another. The other one I have sleeps in a buggy but is growing out of their nap :( so we go in the garden/back room/kitchen and do something while the others nap :)

Two of my youngest mindees are 8 months old and 13 months old. The first time I put them in travel cots in the same room (bad move on my part), the baby screamed so she now sleeps in the lounge and the other one stays upstairs in the spare room. I'm afraid its lunch then nap time here, as if the 13 month old had a nap in the morning like her mum originally wanted me to do she would miss out on socialising with the the children and it would be a complete nightmare trying to get her to catch up with the activities we do in the morning, before we had to leave to do the school run.

My top sleep tip would be to not buy anything else until you know what children you have and what they might need. I had a travel cot already for my children and for the first 18 months I had 4 children all part time and only 1 has a nap and I have him twice a week. He sleeps in travel cot set up in my kids room - i am in a flat and so my living room door is just across hallway from bedroom. I have started minding a baby and 1 day a week the 2 over lap but at the moment they have naps at separate times, so I just have different coloured sheets for each of them, baby has a sleeping bag and toddler has a blanket so I just change these in between naps. Glad I didn't buy another travel cot as I think by the time the baby sleeps later, the toddler probably won't sleep - although I do also have a cot matress that I could use too. My plan is if they sleep in a bed at home they can sleep on the matress here.

Mine sleep in travel cots too - luckily I'm in a bungalow so they are close by. I put the cots up in different rooms so they don't disturb one another.

We started out using the travel cot in a downstairs spare room but now dont even bother to be honest. We mind 2 2 year olds who either sleep on the sofa or on the bck cushions of our sofa on the floor (which they think is fun). The 18 month old sleeps in her buggy.

Mine sleep in travel cots upstairs (separate rooms). Everyone who needs a sleep goes to bed after lunch. Occasionally I have one who needs a morning sleep and they either sleep in the car (normally out am) or upstairs. I prefer them to sleep upstairs as I have one or two still awake and playing.
