Hi everyone! Just wondered how many of you use sleep monitoring forms. I check sleeping babies every 15 mins and have been noting this on forms..what do you all do with the forms after? Is it just to cover us for that day in case of incidents or do you keep them with childrens paperwork long term as eveidence?

I do not record checking times as I don't see the point. I use monitors so I can always hear child breathing or moving and I do visual checks too. The amount of visual checks and the time between varies with each individual child and on their sleeping patterns. Perhaps you could use a white board to record checks that day and wipe off at the end of each session if you want to keep a track of times. As long as there is no incident then I don't see why you need to keep the records after the child is safely awake and gone home.

Thankyou. It does seem pointless printing off forms to throw away at the end of the day. The wipe board is a good idea thanks Green Puppy :clapping:

I don't record times either - have never been asked for this by Ofsted.

I don't record anything - I do have it written somewhere that I will check on sleeping children regularly

I don't record. Think record forms are more for use in a nursery where there are other members of staff who do the checks also.

waste of trees :( like many other things ofsted and parents have to take my word that I check on sleeping babies. A tick doesn't show anything I'm afraid

No recording here too, I just feel its one more form to fill in. I already do way too much I feel as it is

I have it written in a policy that I will check babies every 15 minutes. They will have to believe me. A tick sheet - let's face it, you could fudge one of those in minutes and so in my opinion proves nothing and is a waste of trees.

Mine sleep in the room I am in, I can hear them snoring but if they don't then I check them every 10-15 mins I just jot down time they drop off and wake up in their daily diary so mum knows how long they have:)
