Hi we had home insurance last year but moved house, the qoute stayed the same but they added on a fee to change paperwork etc which was fine. they knew i was a childminder and all is the same except now we live in a bigger house.

Just done a compare online as ends in feb and its gone from £54 to £185 so wondering who you use? or what ive done wrong! know it varies a lot but not paying so much this year when none of our contents have changed.
Thanks

Gosh if I could get my Contents insurance for as little as £185 I would jump at it!

You have been very lucky paying as little as £54 or you have been grossly under insured.

Usually the insurers assess you on the number of bedrooms you have as a start. the look at the age and construction of your house as well. So being in a bigger house will change your premiums.

I think you just have to shop around.

I have been with Churchill for years for Buildings and Contents Insurance.

Mine is with Co-op and I pay £10 per month which I think is very reasonable.
