Hi Guys,

It's my nephew's 5th birthday next week and I want to get him a coupleof books but I'm a bit out of touch when it comes to boys. What do your sons/male mindees of this age enjoy reading?

Many thanks. x

these were my 5 year olds favourite christmas books - he is quite proficient for his age and reads them independently , but they would be good read together books also.

dinosaur cove books are great early chapter books ... 2 boys, find a secret way back to the land of the dinosaurs! great for reading aloud, and for reading to himself as he gets more proficient at reading.

Ds also liked jack stallwart books ... a young 'spy' who travels the world, really good for imparting geography and info about different countries without child noticing !!!!

"Where's my Underpants" - It a flap book with a pair of card underpants that you hide somewhere under one of the many flaps and another person has to try and find them. My DD and the mindees I've had at that age have spent ages playing with it.

Any books by Julia Donaldson!

Winnie the witch is popular with my son. Also Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs range. Oh and Aliens love underpants! My son is 5 :)

My brother who's 6 loves horrid Henry and Ben 10. He reads beyond his years though, and likes Roald Dahl books too.
