Lots of growth activities... measuring... trying new food etc.

Spring is a good time to do this theme because you can visit the garden centre and choose some beans to grow in the garden :D

we 'grew' a beanstalk in the playroom - from tubes of brown card and paper leaves - looked great if you have the room.

I bought different beans to cook and eat with meals too - runners/french/baked/kidney. Also made a sausage and bean stew

I have a story sack with props for Jack and the Beans stalk, but we usually do it in Spring when we grow the beans etc.

We are looking at winter and the changes in the world around us.

This has led onto the children thinking about animals in winter and hibernation after they noticed the squirrels have disappeared from the garden.

We are also thinking about birds in winter and making food for them :D

We are looking at Houses and Homes. A variety of different style homes from different countries as well as the different homes for animals - to tie in with hibernation. Some of the books we will be sharing are 3 little pigs, The Gruffalo and a House for Mouse.
