hi all..

I don't know why but around now i already get itchy feet to take down the xmas decs.. I was just wondering when everyone else does? apparently they should be down by the 12th night which is 5th/6th jan or its bad luck.. is it also bad luck to take down earlier than that?

I've already taken a few bits down just to tidy up the place a bit.. :):)

I know the feeling! LOL

Mine only went up on the 22nd this year so not feeling too bad yet, but they always come down after breakfast on the 2nd.

I don't think it's bad luck to take them down before 12th night. I usually leave them up til then but I feel like taking mine down now too - probably because I've got a bit of time on my hands. (apart from my fibre optic tree - I love it and want to keep that up all year round!):)

I always take mine down on Jan 1st .... i don't drink or go out on New Yers Eve so i've a clear head to start the dismantling.:D

Then i have a nice clean, tidy house ..... with so much more room, ready to start the New Year

I take most down in the early hours of Jan 1st - as I like to have a fresh start to the new year - I never do anything for New Years eve so always have a clear head.

However Dh is superstious and insists on leaving up the wreath on the front door until 12th night :(

I usually take mine down on the 1st Jan while everyone else is still sleeping off their hangovers  I have already taken down the cards and the childminding stuff in the dining room was taken down when I finished work last Thursday so it looked more like a dining room than a playroom for Christmas dinner!!!

I usually try to wait until 12 days after - even though I don't usually put them up until a week before.

Strange how some people can't wait to get them down even though they couldn't wait to get them up - a month in advance sometimes.

Not being funny or anything but Christmas is so commercialised nowadays that I find it so much build up to just one day!

I would like to put them away, but I keep hearing my Mum say it's bad luck before 12 th night, I'm taking no chances, so mine are staying till then lol

I took our tree down on Wednesday, but the rest are still up at the moment. Not sure how long for but I am 'on holiday' until Tuesday so plenty of time to sort them out.

I hate the thought of xmas dec's from the year before (2011) still being up in a new year (2012). Call me daft but it just doesn't feel right

takin mine down on the first as have a party new years eve and didn't want to appear to be a grinch .Cant wait to have a good tidy up.Only found the front half of my livingroom today. My kids got so much stuff i have no idea where its all going. We're in the middle of getting our loft bedroom ..where our eldest has her bedroom so she's sleeping in my toy room, she says she feels homeless,no where to keep anything or put her presents away.My 4 boys took some of their stuff up to the room that they all share and now they have no floor at all !!!!.I think i'm going to secretly knock a hole through to nextdoor and start storing things in there or....hire a skip

I'm thinking of taking our down tomorrow now as got xmas decs box floating around my bedroom at the mo and could do with space back.. I decided that keeping them up as long as possible does seem to keep me in xmas mode still.. and I am quite liking the continual feeling of being f estive.. bubble popping soon.. :littleangel:

I only have the tree and a cane wreath over the fireplace, and I follow Italian tradition in that respect, and take them down on the 6th after the Epiphany. The kids get chocolates and small toys in their stockings on the day and we pack them all away then.:)

All gone :clapping:
Curtains washed, ironed and re hung. Huge clean underway, can't believe how big my house looks without childminding stuff. Tomorrow will be spent getting things out of garage and sorting.
Haven't finished paperwork, will do in first couple of weeks of new term.
DH has agreed to build me lean too structure to cover my patio for outside play in bad weather/hot weather. But only when we can afford the materials
It's a good feeling to blow the cobwebs away and start a fresh.

All decorations now down and a massive clean up underway. I have no mindee's now until Wednesday as the one I have tomorrow has text to say he's spending the day with his grandparents over from France so if I get it all done today I can have a lovely quiet day tomorrow before things go back to normal on Wednesday .
