Walk to school week

This week is walk to school week and the theme is "sound detectives" encouraging the children to listen to and identify sounds as they walk to school.

So this morning we made a list of all the sounds the children thought they might hear on the way to school and then armed with a clipboard and pencil walked there ticking them off

They enjoyed it so much they've asked if they can all have their own sheet and clipboard tomorrow - so I think I'll be busy later

Just thought I'd share - it is amazing what you can hear if you are actually listening :)

We do listening walks quite often - they are a great way of getting the children to focus on what's around them...

Yours sounds like it was a great success Miffy - I will do the same with my before schoolers tomorrow :D

Sounds a good idea. I do similar with my Caitlin - we play "I hear with my little ear, something that sounds like...." It's great fun
