Has anyone got a puppet theatre? Are they any good? Do the kids like them?

I'm looking for another present for my two girls, my uncle has asked me to get them something and I'm a bit stuck, budget is £65 and I just spotted the puppet theatres on amazon.

Liking this one but not sure if it's a bit big so we might not get it out often

But have also spotted this finger puppet one

Any thoughts on whether the hand puppets or finger ones would be easier for them to use? My two are 3y and 5y, mindees all similar ages too.

Thanks x

I've got a small one and the children do enjoy it, we have lots of finger puppets and they like telling stories with them. It folds up though and lives behind the settee when not in use I don't think I'd want such a big one that takes up a lot of space. HTH

do you have a link for the one you have, would ideally like a personal recommendation since I can;t see them in real life before buying, thanks x

I bought this one from Wise Owl Toys at NCMA conference last year

http://www.wiseowltoys.co.uk/table-top-puppet-theatre.ir?cName=puppets-puppet-theatres

It's a tabletop one but quite substantial in size and the children use hand puppets and finger puppets with it. It's very much loved by all the children in my setting - mostly used with the children 3 - 8. They do a doorway one at Wise Owl too which looks fun!

They are quite sturdy but you need to put them on a table then the danger is if the children push it off as it's quite heavy. Depends what age you want it for I suppose.

thanks for the replies, have decided to go for the big free standing one which doubles up as a shop, seems to have good reviews. Now just to choose a couple of puppets! Which would you say were best to start with? Am thinking a fairy/princess, prince and a dragon or maybe a witch?

Sounds good to me

You could always ask the children
