When do you all finish up for Christmas?

I wasn't sure what to take this Christmas with it being the first one I have been a childminder but it's worked out pretty much how I wanted which is a result!

I finish with one mindee on the 19th December until the 5th January, finish with another one on the 22nd December until the 10th January (term time only mindee) and for my other mindee I said I'd work the 28th and 29th December. Don't mind doing that as it's just one baby so no hassle really and it's extra money for our new year break :)

I don't charge at all during this period (it's the only time of year they get away with it!). However if parents choose to take additional days off either side of these dates they have to pay the usual holiday rates. xx

But this year they are all off so I finish on Friday 16th and go back on Tuesday 3rd and I'm paid for all of it because its the mindees taking the holiday. :thumbsup: Real Treat.

i may have the 23rd off but not sure yet..then have odd hours on the week after am back on i think the 5th..but my 2 full time kids are off for 2 weeks in Jan so will have a quite couple of weeks then!

I am available all the way through this year as I normally go away for Christmas but aren't this year. My husband is self employed too so will be working as much as he can through necessity so I don't mind. I also unfortunately have a few parents who seem to think that although they get paid begrudge me any sort of pay not worked for so they will be sending their children even though one of them had arranged for a relative to have their children overnight hoping I would take it as holiday and they would not have to pay! :rolleyes:

I finish on Wednesday 21st and don't start back until Tuesday 3rd- and all parents (except my term time only) are still paying :)

Finish on Friday 23rd and dont open until the 3rd January. I am paid for this whole time as in my contracts I have a special section for christmas holidays which states that i am closed from the 23rd up to the day after the january bank holiday, and all of this will be full pay for their normal contracted days. :)

I dont charge for any of my other holidays throughout the year, except bank holidays which are normal pay but i am not open.

I love christmas too much to not have any time to spend with family.

I am glad i did this as both my sets of parents have said in conversation that they would have sent their kids to me on the 28th to the 30th December if i was open!

Finish 6pm on 23rd December, working 28th-30th and back on 3rd. I have a LO who's parents will be off, but they don't like to spoil his routine, so he will still be here from 8am-6pm on those days. I don't mind as he is so lovely, but I still feel a little sad they don't want to spend that time with him as they both work full time.

I finish at 6.00pm on Friday 23rd and re-open at 8.00am on Tues 3rd Jan.

I did have one parent ask if I could have her child just on Tuesday 27th (which is a bank holiday, so double pay) - the look on my daughter's face said it all and I said "Sorry, I can't". I hate saying no but I think it's important to have some family time at Christmas. Even more so for me this year. The parent was fine about it and quite understood.

I've got ahead of myself on my diploma work and I'm determined not to do any paperwork or work related things while I'm off!

Finish on 22nd December!! As we both have holidays planned for the early in the new year, June and I have offered to work on 28th and 29th (neither of us work Friday's) so as letter went out about it a few weeks ago and only 1 parent has asked (1 day) we are sending out a form this week asking them which days they need us (if any) and depending on response to that next year we may go back to having the whole of the school hols off :rolleyes:
