Hi

I'm enquring for a friend of mine who needs childcare for three children for roughly 25 hours per week - she's a newly single mum so childcare is a new area for her.

She lives in the South East and would like a rough idea of what fees are like in this area. I've told her what mine are but then I'm in the South West now and I know that things vary considerably.

If you guys wouldn't mind giving me a rough idea (don't want specifics) of charges to give her that would be great. I've told her to see if she can find any local childminders websites as well to give her a rough idea of what the cost to her might be. She's trying to work out whether the job she wants to apply for is gooing to be financially viable when costing in childcare.

Thank you

I look after a family of three but two go to school. I charge £3.50 per hour but for the family I charge £3.10 for the 1st and 2nd child and the 3rd child is £2.60 so it works out at £8.80 per hour instead of £10.50.

The 3 yr old does 40hrs a week and the 2 schoolies do 16hrs a week each

:D

Im not from the area you are looking at but thought Id give you a rough idea of my discounts

I live i West Sussex and i charge £4.25 per hour for full day care, I have introduced recently due to having parents wanting 1/2 days £5 per hour as can't fill the afternoon space,
The prices do vary a bit, I think it may be cheaper on the coast

Whereabouts in the SE is she? because I have noticed that fees vary a lot depending on where you are. I am also in West Sussex and will charge £5 an hour inclusive of meals, the going rate in my local area is between £4 & £5 plus food.

I am in the SE but she need to look in her local area because it varies a lot. Within 5 miles of me it can be anything from £4.50 to £7ph

Discounts depend on the age of the child and a lot of cms have stopped sibling discounts or only give 10% because the children take up the same space as individual children would. You incur the same expenses, they are not cheaper because they are from the same family.

it does vary so much. I charge 4.50 but just up the road in either direction it's £6/£7 per hour (wimbledon/banstead)

I'm West Sussex and I charge £4.40 normally but have an after schooler who pays £4.70 an hour. In my town and even my immediate vicinity fees vary from £4 - £5 an hour - some charge extra for food and outings (I don't)

Get her to look on childcare.co.uk as she can find CMs within 1 mile of her home address and she can mail them and ask what their rates are. I'm in Kent too and I charge £3.50ph plus £2.00 for hot meals.
