is it time for our title to have a make over?

i think that the name childminder or childminding gives the wrong impression to most people of what we really do?

i don't mind children!

may be it's time for a change but to what any idea's?????

or am i wrong????????????

Do you mean something a bit more modern and politically correct?

Perhaps Child Care Operative (my husband used to be a warehosueman 8 years ago but is now a Warehouse Operative!)

Or maybe something that incorporates all that we will be doing with EYFS when it comes in in September.

Maybe Early Years Worker/Carer?

I mean, we are childminders because we mind children, but as you say that could imply we just sit and watch them all day. It doesnt explain or even hint at all the paper work, training, activities, preparing healthy meals, planning, outings, liasing with parents etc etc that we also do.

Do you think Parents would care what we are called ? As long as we look after their little darlings all hours for less than minimun wage lol
I sound like I hate my job, but honestly I do love my job its just the PARENTS that are the problem.

I'd have to re-write all my policies... again!

I did worry about having to rewrite my policies also - thought it was just me! I have only just re-jigged them for my recent Ofsted inspection!!Lol

I like Home Based Child Carer/Care Provider. But this still doesnt include the education side when EYFS comes in in September.

I think it would still end up like the whole Snickers/Marathon and Opal Fruits/Starburst scenario ie everyone will still call us the original name ie childminder.

Unless Ofsted paid for us to have a great big rebranding campaign!! Lol
