I have a notepad I use as a visitors book.

So far, all I do is the date, time in and out and the name of ther person.

It is me who writes in it, not the visitor.

Will this be ok with OFSTED?

I do similar but i get the visitor to write in it and sign.

As far as i know at the mo, its not a requirement for ofsted, just good practise, so im sure it will be fine.

I asked my inspector to sign mne and she seemed impressed.

I have only just started using one (nobody has been yet :( ) but I would think they have to sign themselves.

I also have the reason for the visit so I know if it was a tradesman, new parent visit, another childminder etc.

I sign them in and out - my inspector was fine with that so I don't think it matters whether you do it or the visitor does it.

I sign them in and out - feel a bit daft asking my friends to sign in to visit me tbh!
