Would one of these suffice?

Or does it have to be a proper alarm?

A friend of mine just had a leak in her house and luckily she had an alarm, it's got me all paranoid now as I don't have one and wasn't told it was compulsory (which I find odd?)

I was told by my gas man that you would probably be dead before it changed colour so i got an alarm :)

I was told that by the time the carbon monoxide got to a high enough level for the indicator to detect it, you'd already be unconscious so they're pretty pointless.
Glad your friends ok

I'd been meaning to get one for ages - and finally picked one up in Asda the other day for £12.50.

It says to place near to sleeping area's in order to wake you up - but when I put batteries in and tested it the alarm was deafening!!!

So it's on the wall in the kitchen - and would definatley wake us all up if needed!!
