Got parent coming round at 6pm tonight - The Polish lady I posted a thread about yesterday.

I really need this job. If I get it I wouldn't need any more children. Only have one other mindee who is part time and this little boy would be enough to make a difference to us.

Please send me positive vibes. I promise to stop moaning if I get it.

How did it go?

ma7ie
15-05-2008, 06:02 PM
They've just gone.

That was so stressful. Mum talked quite good English - enough to make herself understood but struggled to understand the things I was telling her, so I didn't go into much detail.

I gave her a copy of my policies to take with her and my porfolio and copies of permission slips etc so she could try and digest them at home.

Little boy doesn't speak any English at all. He is apparently being looked after by an unregistered childminder who charges £80 per week.

I told mum that my bill would be £150 based on 55 hours work - from 7am until 6pm so I don't know how that went down.

Little boy didn't want to leave and had a tantrum.

She needs someone from monday so I told her to ring me if she has any questions and we'd need to sign contracts asap.

I really don't know if it went well or not.

Just as well I didn't translate everything into Polish as well because the information I got on her was wrong and she is Latvian which apparently is a whole different language

Fingers crossed you will be learning some Latvian soon then? Well done, it sounds like you handled it all well - especially if the lad didn't want to leave.

:update: :cheerleader: I've got the job:cheerleader:

Mum's just rang me and is coming later this afternoon to sign the contracts.

Little boy is starting on Monday at 7.30am (going to have to buy that Latvian dictionary now Pipsqueak!)

He's only 5 months older than my dd so hopefully will be a nice playmate for her too.

I'm not full but I don't need (or want) any more mindees at the moment.

Thanks everyone for all the positive vibes, they must have worked.

Wishing you luck and I look forward to hearing about Latvia!!! How exciting.
