Should we have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in our kitchen?

I've just had the Fire brigade out to fit new smoke alarms, when I asked him, he said I only need a fire extinguisher if I feel confident enough to tackle a fire and a fire blanket if I had a chip pan, which I don't.

Just wondered if anyone else had these?

Thanks

The fire brigade would rarely say yes to people having an extinguisher.
Do you know what type of extinguisher to use on what fire.

They advise to get out, stay out and call the professionals. their advice is to ensure you know and practice you evacuations and have working alarms

I have a blanket - to appease ofsted and that is it

I did have a fire extinguisher until I found out it was obsolete

I haven't replaced it but I do have a fire blanket. I wouldn't mess around though trying to put out a fire, especially if I had mindees in the house, we'd just get out as quickly as we could.

That's what I though, just checking Ofsted's requirements etc
