Do any of you charge parents for doing a school pick up? If so how much?

I am just about to start picking up once a week from the secondary school as 11yo mindee has started an afterschool club so cant get the bus to me. I only mind her and her sister on a monday afternoon so its not like I've got to drag a load of kids with me!

Its approx a 6 mile round trip. Mum is happy to pay petrol but dont want to take the mick. What would you charge per mile? I was thinking of the 45p tax allowable rate. Do you think that would be fair?

Thanks

you can't charge parents otherwise you will be classed as a taxi and will get fined.

You need to incorporate it in your cost {you can claim the .45p mileage}

I'm going for 20p a mile as I have worked out that is exactly what it costs.

Jackie you can legally claim 0.45p per mile as an expense on your accounts as it also includes wear and tear on your vehicle not just the straight petrol cost, it is allowed as a tax concession so don't miss out. :)
