Hello to all,
I am a newbie here so please be kind
I have just left a very demanding university course and have decided to pursue a career in childminding.
My children are over 8 so therefore i have no under 8 toys , stair gates, cupboard locks ect, i was wondering at what stage of becoming registered would i need to purchase things like toys, safety equipment ect for the under 8’s?
I’ve trawled through 100’s of posts and can’t seem to find out when people have kitted their house out for youngsters

Many thanks in advance.

My house is safe for my own children, 2 and 3 years but I had my Ofsted pre reg check in July/Aug and I didn't have everything in place though. I imagine as long as when you start working and Ofsted do an inspection that should be fine. I was told to have everything ready for my inspection in the New Year. Katy

I'd not buy too many toys at this stage as you have no idea what ages your first mindees will be.

If you do a forum search for favourite toys, you'll get some ideas of what members think are the most popular resources.

Find out if you have a toy library near you - these often lend out boxes of toys for a small fee or even for free. Ask friends to donate toys their own children have finished with and check out car boots and charity shops too.

Good luck
