Hi all

Just wondering how I record food costs in my account book, I dont have reciepts for every meal, I save my Tesco online printout so obviously I dont have numbers for the receipts.

I charge £1.50 per day for snacks and meals in my accounts which is about right so how do I do it correctly?

thats all you need to do is in the food section just put in £1.50 for the meal per person...and dont forget to claim the snacks and drinks too.....other people do it with the shopping and take the average per person but i do it with the charge per person.

As long as you can show a working for your claim then you are fine. £1.50 per day seems very low including snacks. Have you calculated the bill per head based on the actual receipt and number of mindees?

I thought about doing it per head but I found it to be difficult dividing up receipts especially as they all eat different amounts ect. Is there a really easy way if doing it? I just don't want to be sat for ages dividing up food lol. Sound really lazy dont I :laughing:

I claim £1.50 for a hot meal...breakfast is 50p and snacks 50p-£1 depends really...and thats off the top of my head as i can;t rememebr what i put in my ac book :blush:

Take your receipt each week and deduct all personal items (beer.wine.clothes etc) plus 100% childminding costs (these go through separately). Divide the balance by the number of mindees in the week plus family giving you a per head figure and then multiply it by the number of mindees. All the food in your house is available to mindees and this takes 5 mins each week to do and is accurate and up to date

i.e. family 4 mindees 3

£100 bill divide by 7 and mult by 3 = £42.86 claim
