Our plans have been scarpered by heavy rain and I am absolutely useless when it comes to last minute planning activities indoors. I would really appreciate some help.

The children I have are 1, 3 ,3 ,5 and 8.

We have done movies to the death (lol) so I'd like to do something creative.

Our rainy day plans for Friday our playdough, salt dough, painting giant butterflies (as we have baby caterpillars at the moment) and hide and seek so don't want to use up any of those ideas or I will be stuck Friday!

I want to avoid going out to buy anything as when I say heavy rain I mean HEAVY rain!!!!!!

Thanking you in advance for your help :) :clapping:

I thought we might make a weather mobile - or series of them, going to start with making a cloud to hang raindrops from - made from card and painted or decorated with blue collage scraps. draw a picture of our fav weather.
have a rany day dress up race if you have wellies and a coat for all....

how about drawing round yourselves on large pieces of paper and then making 'self portraits' using paint/crayons/collage stuff?

make puppets and put on a puppet show? act out story books?

make books? older children could write a story, younger ones could stick in pictures on a theme... maybe still on the theme of your caterpillars & butterflies.

have a baking day?

have a disco?

or, make sure you have a change of clothes for everyone and go out and puddle jump in the rain!

have fun!

We also have heavy rain so have decided to make cup cakes with the children this morning (When the lo's sleep) and then we are going to grate some crayons and make stained glass windows pictures - as indoors going to use the tuff tray then we are going to decorate the cakes later so going to make up lots of different colour icing with the children and also use food colouring to teach colour blending. I also have a 1 year old who will sit in the high chair and put sprinkles and icing on the cakes. (messy but fun)

Let us know what you decide to do in the end. Could you not rearrange your week and do your planned activities for Friday today and then take the lo's out on Friday as, fingers crossed, the weather might improve.

Meant to be heavy rain for the rest of the week argh!
Loving the ideas, weather mobile is a great idea, making books could be interesting too, keep them coming!
Helengreen13 your crayon activity triggered an idea for me - crayon rubbings! Could maybe use coins or let the children just choose.

Marble painting.

Cut out a piece of paper that will fit inside a tin with a lid (any size ie: sweet tin, biscuit tin, etc).
Get the children to blob paint onto the paper, put a few marbles into the tin, put the lid on and get the children to shake the tins.
When you take the lid off you are left with a lovely pattern.
Hang the paper out to dry and start again.
