Hi everyone,

I am a newly registered childminder, I have one mindee who is 10 months old. I only have her once a week at the moment (not had her for a full day yet).

I have been making simple observations, likes, dislikes, new things she is doing etc. I have been trying to build up a relationship with the little one. She has just finished the settling in period.

How many observations should I be doing? Should I have observations for every session?

Thanks

Claire

hi im newly registered as well.... i have been writting observations as and when the need occurs... i seem to get something everyweek as my mindee develops skills and grows :) as long as your observing planning and ensuring you have next steps and these are all individual to the child concerned you are meeting the EYFS good luck with it all and have fun

Noooo not every session... when you see or hear something that you want to write down or as a comment attached to a photo.

Sometimes parents tell you things and you can use the comments as your obs.

Hth :D

Thanks for your replies, that really helpful.

It's a little tricky only having her once a week, plus been new at this too.

Thanks
