Don't forget once he's at full time school (mornings and afternoons) he'll be classed as a 5 year old, even if he is still 4.

This means he won't be taking up your under 5 space anymore and you gain a regular before and after schooler.

Hope this helps. :)

I have a little boy just before school term time only for 1.5 hours a day. I do charge a higher rate for him though!

Im not too bothered about filling my 5 - 8 places though so I am happy to just have him these hours.

Yes i would have him for those hours - that's all you could expect really once he's at school - he won't affect your under 5 ratio

Will he need care in the holidays - you might make some extra cash then

in this area we charge an hour to take to school and an hour to collect. So it would be 5 hours at a higher part time rate, so it makes it worth it. You decide what you need to bring in from this parent.:)

Good advice from wendywu - you should also charge a retainer for the school holidays since mum gets paid for them there's no reason why you shouldn't

I have 2 girls just on monday morning from 8.10 until 8.45 then I have another girl from 8am until 8.45 then 3.20 until 4pm on a few days a week.

I charge a minimum of 2 hours for the morning and for the afternoon as well for each child. But both parents get 85% paid for them, if they weren't getting any help I would probably just do a minimum 1 hour each child :)
