Anyone know if this will work

We are trying for a baby and I am working out what I will dp when the time comes to stop working. I can't afford to stop for long but my plan is to get an assistant for last month til due date then take a few weeks off. I am hoping that my assistant will be registered as a childminder by then but can guarantee it so I could possibly take off longer and she could take over my mindees and just pay me for bills so I don't lose my mindees. If I did this could I still claim maternity allowance as technically wouldn't be working.

If assistant not registered by then I plan to be here but on a supervisory role only and she will take on the responsibility I just will be here so she isn't on her own and I can focus on my new baby. How would this affect me claiming maternity allowance, assuming I would have to take no income.

I have no idea but there is some info here that might help you

http://www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guides/technical-guidance/ni17a-a-guide-to-maternity/

It would probably best if you contact DWP and ask them for their advice
