Had a great morning at our local resource centre. We have loads of stuff ready for the Summer Hols.

- Paper
- Card
- Books
- Ribbons
- Cardboard Tubes
- Arts and Craft stuff
- Stickers

Plus loads more bits and pieces, all for just £7

Does anyone else have a resource centre they use

We've got one near us, but it's only open a couple of days during the week, when I can't get there.

It's a shame. When I have managed to go in the past I've got some fab stuff

Wow I want one of those! I am just about to place a huge order with crafty crocodiles so if I can get anything first that would be great - how do you find them?

Hi Katie

This is the one near us

http://phoenix-resource-centre.org.uk/

It costs £10 per year to join then you buy visits, either £15 for a one off or £70 for 10 visits (£7 per visit). You then just help yourself to whatever you want. They give you a large trolley which you are allowed to fill.

We buy the 10 visits and share them with another childminder so it only costs us £35 for 5 visits which is more than enough to keep us going in supplies for the year.

Just google your local area for "Resource Centre", most areas have them.

Happy hunting

You can also search for scrapstores as they are very similar. Ask your local council as they sometimes have lists of them:) I know there are several in Wiltshire if that helps anyone!

The ones near me cost between £25 and £30 membership annually and you can't share membership with other cm's which is a shame.

It used to be free and the "stock" was very variable so I haven't joined since they introduced the charges.

I think the system you describe would be much better - a smaller membership and pay per visit especially if you could share the costs.

i think the £35 cost is quite resonable as its going to save us a fortune in crafty stuff!

I have one by me, it's fab and has a toy library there aswell.
We can pay membership for 10% off but anyone can go and the items vary and are very cheap, we go all the time :clapping:
It's even stocking scrapbooking stuff now!

There's a great one in Oxford - Orinoco, you don't need to be a member or trades person, parents and families are welcome.

Thanks, I am in Northants too Dave. I have very little storage space so like you could do with sharing a token with another minder.
