HI 'm waiting anxiously for my medical form to come back and wondering if my doc might not think its a good job for me as I'm older (58) and recovering from polymyalgia - but been symptom free for 18 months and coming off the meds. I guess if he writes a negative assessment then there's absolutely nothing I can do?

There was some depression about 3 years ago but nothing came of it and it was only the one visit.

anyone got any stories about that?

Hiya,

I don't know anything about your specific health problem but in my experience you should be fine, especially if you are coming off meds etc

I personally had to have open heart surgery which included fitting a metal heart valve 3 years ago. I am now on medication for life which includes weekly blood tests. I did the usual GP dec form, signed the form to let them approach my specialist and then went for a 1 to 1 'health screening' thingy with one of their consultants and he declared me fit and healthy. He also asked for a cheeky listen to my heart as i "am fasinating"

So in brief, without the life story lol You should be fine. But it didn't stop me worrying ALL the way through!!

Best of luck x

P.s - I also had some depression/anxiety last year after i had lost my job. As i could pin point what caused it and the fact of deciding to pursue my new career in cm'ing etc they just did a questionnaire and said it was no problem.

Thanks both of you! I guess I feel uncomfortable because it gives the doc SO much power!

Ofsted will read what your doc says and then get health screening involved if they want more information.

You go for an appointment and it is health screening who decides whether or not you are safe to work with children.

Good luck with it all x

Hello

I was 51 when re registered - I had had depression, I am a diabetic (meds for life), have extreme restless leg syndrome (meds for life), underactive thyroid Meds for life), need B12 injections every 3 months.

Ofsted required a second medical from doctor ( and so did DVLA) but all went through fine and fairly quickly .

Good luck

Penny :)
