If so I wondered what rate you charge. Do you charge a premium for early starts and late evenings?

Thanks a million

gosh. I work 8.30am - 6pm that is enough for me. Im usually shattered by 4pm.

I have been asked about earlier start times but luckily for me those never chose to have me. I think that if I had a full time job elsewhere I wouldnt want to work for much longer a day.

If I did I would certainly charge more for the hours before 8am and after 6pm

I work 7am to 6.30pm at the moment, but I only charge my hourly rate of £5 or £5.50ph for the Contracted hours whatever they are.

If a parent requires hours outside contrated hours then its time and a half.

I don't at the moment but from September will be doing three different shifts for a new mindee- either 7am to 4pm, 8.30am to 5.30pm, or 2pm to 8.30pm. I will be charging double fees for before 8am and after 6pm- the parent was more than happy with this.

Goodness I have never done that, 8am is a late start for me and always has been. Penalty of living in the London comuter belt.

I am open 7 days a week from 5:30am - 7pm - parents pay a set fee for up to 10 hrs per day between those times.

Before 5:30am and after 19.00 it is a hourly rate on top - even if their normal day is less than 10 hrs.

I don't but if I had to start that early and finish that late I would charge extra as I'd class it as unsocial hours

officially I charge a higher rate before 0800 but I've only charged the higher rate if I started at 7am. For 0730 starts I don't bother I just charge for the half hour at normal rate. I don't want to charge the hour and then they actually turn up at 7am :panic:

I'm not good at mornings. I have worked until 6pm and 6.30 but at present I do 0730 to 5.15 or 6pm Mon-Wed, off thursdays and Fridays 0800 to 4.30(shift depending).

I would not do a full week of 0730 to 6.30 - it would kill me :panic:

I used to work 7.30 - 6.45pm 5 days a week and it damn near did kill me - I was also babysitting two nights a week and college one night a week and have two young children of my own. When the child that needed those hours left, I took the opportunity to cut right back and I know work Monday - Thursday.

I have to be honest and say I was a total mug and only charged my hourly rate of £4.40 an hour!!:o

I start at 7am some days and finish normally by 6.30pm. I used to charge extra for before 8am and after 6pm but when I put my charges up earlier this year did away with it and just have the 1 hourly rate.

Such variations and very interesting too. That has really helped I have an lady visiting tomorrow wanting 7.30am till 6.30pm and was thinking time and a half for the unsocial hours.

How does it work with the law with working longer hours like that, I guess that it is our choice?

my normal rate hours of £4.50/hr are between 8am and 5.30pm - outside that it's £6.50/hr. Hoping not too many want those hours cos I would rather not:blush:

When I worked as a nanny I did 7:30-18:45 Mon-Fri for 6 years (excluding my maternity leave). Sometimes longer when parents missed trains etc. 1 of the reason I decided to childmind was so I didn't do such long hours. If I did do it, I wouldn't work 5 days a week. And yes I charge more before 8am and after 6pm. Saying all that I haven't had much work since I started and so only do 8:30-17:30 2 days a week and 1 day 8:30-3 with occasional ad hoc hours.
