How do you all get accross 'no' to your little ones.

My mindee is very selective when it comes to listening to what he is being told.

Perserverance and explanations! I never just say 'No', always explain why we can't do it etc. Even very little one's seem to respond better with an explanation. x

I always try to use positives rather than negatives, so if your mindee is for example pulling the blinds...a favourite thing of my mindees  you say, let's not pull them as they might fall and break..shall we open them and see what is out of the window?

Basically find something more intersting to distract them with!

I often say 'yes we can do that, but first we need to...'

Also like Lauren I go for positives and explanations as much as possible.

Some families over use 'no' so the child just switches off from it. I find these children respond better to things being explained calmly and quietly.

Good luck! :D

I get their attention, I get down to their level - say no and the explanation and gently lead away or distract.

I find it extremely hard to not say no especially when they are doing the same thing again and again after we have talked about why its not a good idea.

I am the same, after explaining and removing them from whatever they are doing wrong 3-4 times and they still go back I find it hard to get my point accross.

My mindee understands 'no' but chooses to ignore it!
