wonder if anyone can help? is it ok to childmind in a rented house with the landlords permission?

Yes so long as you have the landlords permission.

You can even ofset your rent against your tax unlike people in mortgaged homes.

Yes you can rent & childmind, there are a few that rent & mind on here.

I am at the moment trying to find a house that I can rent & childmind from plus allow my cats, but so far am not having much luck, a few letting agencies have said that they don't allow any business to run from any of their properties, which is so disheartening as we need to move out by June but need to stay local as oldest has his exams in June.

thanks for that. things not going to plan with house so might have to look to rent. good to know i can if i find the right landlord!
