Have I heard right , that from 6 April 2011 mileage has gone up to 45p per mile?

What if you transport another cm with you? That used to be 45p is that the same still or gone up to 50p per mile?

Its 5p per mile extra if you carry another cm with you, so yes it would now be 50p for that.

I am intrigued to know why you would be able to claim more if you had another childminder in the car with you. I didn't know that as we often take other childminders to trainings. Why would you be able to claim more for the same journey.

Maybe its recognising the car sharing aspect? Also the more full the car is the more fuel you use.

The additional 5p per mile does not apply for the self employed (which includes childminders) as has been discussed before here.
