I know it is a long way off but I wondered what you all did about time off/working at christmas.

What do you work and what do you charge?

Only day I'm not happy to work is christmas day. I find most parents don't want care anyway cos they have time off themselves, so if I have any its just 1 or 2 at the most. I just include them in family celebrations, even if we are visiting family cos theres lots of young children in the family at the mo so they just have lots of fun!

I don't work in between Christmas and New Year - I don't have little children of my own (they are teens) so I can pack it all away and shut the playroom door. Highchairs and buggies etc in the summerhouse

this year I will prob finish on the 22nd and start back on the 3rd (if that's when parents go back to work and mine go back to school)

will tell them all by mid November

The only days I don't work are christmas day & boxing day which I do no charge for. All other days I am available to work and charge as their contract states.

I usually have the school holidays off over Christmas. Goes back to when mine were little and I liked them to be able to keep their new toys etc downstairs rather than have to stash it all out of way of mindees. Now they are "old" teenagers, I could work, but like having the time off  I don't charge though!!!

I take two weeks off from my four weeks annual leave. I take the same two weeks as the school and all my families pay half fee (based on what they usually pay in school holidays):)
