I completed a food hygiene course 3 years ago and could do with a refresher course just to keep all my certificates and knowledge up to date. I enquired about the Food Hygiene course which is an all day course (through my local authority) and its going to cost me £50! I don't at the moment have £50 spare - it is a compulsory certificate (like first aid is compulsory) I have to have? I didn't think it was?:panic:

There is an online one which costs about £25 - Virtual College.

Can do it in your own time and they post your certificate out.

There are loads to do online all around £25.00, I used this one was and found it really easy and user friendly

The training and test usually take between 2 to 3 hours to complete (depending on learning speed), which is equivalent to 6 hours face-to-face group training. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark, and, if necessary, may re-sit the test at no extra cost, having revisited the training material.

hope this helps

Although good practice - food hygine is not compulsary for Osted registration. Some LA have it as a requirement for funding /own quality scheme
