looking into getting a new car and wondered about the lapbelt situation?...if I happened to get a car with a 3 point and not 5 point where does that leave us with little ones?....well not so little as I'd let me 10 year old have the lap belt but is there a government law saying only adults can use them?

thanks

I always put the tallest child on the lap belt which is my 12yrold daughter,, you can get a car seat to go on the lapbelt its called the britax eclipse.

The gov website makes no difference between lap or 3 points so I should think it's ok for either child or adult to use lap belts. I personally do not like them and have fitted a Britax prince on the lap belt in my car so the lo is in a full harness seat and the older ones are in boosters with 3 point seat belt.

It does say on the gov website if there is not enough room for 3 seats in the back then a child can travel without a seat but in a seatbelt providing they are over 3
