This morning at 8.10am there was a knock at the door (bearing in mind I have a houseful) and there is a woman and she said 'I am looking for the childminder' so I said yes....... and she said are you the childminder.... I said yes how can I help? She said 'can you have my kids then?'

Errrrmmm,, I was rather taken aback and said what are the ages, and what days do you want so she said 4pm to 7.30pm every day age 8. So I said no I can't do every day and I generally finish at the latest at 6.30...

She stood there for a moment and said ... well can you have them then?

Err no I can't..... her eyes were darting all around peering past me

she then said are you registered - yes I said
what about tax credits do you take them she asked.....

I told her she applies for TC's, she gets it then pays me out of it

(this one is the corker)

so do TC's check with you then? she asks

DING DONG

so I said yes reguarly to make sure people are not claiming fraudulently and that I have a duty to report those I feel may be claiming fraudulently.

she has left me her number in case I change my mind or if I know anyone who can.

like I said bizarre

I think she wanted them to start tonight... i think......

benefit of the doubt though I think she didn't know how 'childcare' works ie contracts, deposits etc

have passed it onto another minder who does late evenings
