Storage solutions

As a new childminder and no small kids, I have to set my new playroom, which have to be ready when I'll start my business, so I need to find some accesible storage for my playroom, but all the merchants chests seems far too expensive for the mdf they are made from. Anyone seen anything suitable? :(

Myself and a lot of the childminders I know use the trofast storage units from ikea. I also have a clothes rack in the corner which houses all the dressing up/role play things.

I have just gotten some large wicker baskets which I use to house all the dolls and things as my D.O said ofsted liked to see we had some natural things dotted around the place.

I think whatever works best for your setting is fine as long as the toys are deemed as accessible to all children I dont think it really matters what you use.

Expedit here too, with Ikea white boxes. We have a large and a small one. Holds all the toys plus paperwork! :clapping::clapping::

I recommend trofast storage too, it's ace!! I have just bought this for my hallway, PERFECT!!!

We are in the process of changing our storage to the Expedit range from Ikea. It looks really smart :D
We don't have a playroom, we just have a lounge/diner. This means we have to live with it all the time (my youngest is now 12) so we want it to look good, and not too 'nursery' like.
My only problem with it is that some things don't fit in the square holes :( eg the ELC rocket (too tall) and board games (too long). I think we may have to keep one of our Billy bookcases for these things (we are replacing these, as they are too cluttered - with our stuff! , and the shelves aren't deep enough for most toyboxes)

I use this as well and ive got the fabric drawers and that looks really smart. Now all I need is a cupboard that has drawers in for pens, paper etc. x

Expedit definitely! We're off to Ikea on Friday to get yet more.

Can I also recommend the item in the following link. I have 2 of these for bookcases - they fit ALL books properly so the children can read the spines - many bookcases these days only seem to fit tiny books. These are FAB!

:eek: I have just gone and ordered the pick 'n' mix storage unit 3 x 4 from toytidy.com. It was expensive but I just like the look of it as its going to be in my sitting room and I have gone for clear boxes rather than the coloured.
